More:
Children Observer, officially established in 2024, is a non-political and non-profit organization primarily focused on creating a society conducive to the natural growth of children, ensuring that they have access to all necessary resources and opportunities. During our organizational discussions, we reviewed our goals, objectives, and programs in depth.
Our society often overlooks certain social issues, allowing them to persist until they become significant problems. However, while these problems are overlooked, they continue to affect children adversely. One such issue is the risk of sexual harassment faced by children. According to a UN study, approximately 10 out of every 20 children experience some form of sexual exploitation by the age of 18. However, many cases remain unreported, and children often do not have the means or knowledge to express or address such incidents. Even guardians may not always be fully aware of or responsive to such incidents, which often go unaddressed.
Despite widespread social awareness, such incidents continue to pose a significant risk to children. Our organization’s primary goal is to create awareness around these issues and advocate for prevention. Rather than solely relying on punitive measures, we aim to foster awareness through diverse approaches. As part of our mission, we conduct awareness programs and discussions among parents to equip them to recognize and respond to risks, ensuring their children are informed and safeguarded.
Another area of concern is the excessive use of smartphones among children, which poses significant social risks. A recent study in Bangladesh found that about 86% of children start using smartphones at school age, with 29% developing a serious dependency. While technology can be a valuable tool, overuse can lead to negative impacts. For example, children who are addicted to mobile phones may neglect physical activities, affecting their physical and mental well-being. Our organization promotes awareness programs to help parents understand these risks and guide their children toward balanced use.
The growing prevalence of smartphone addiction among children also brings significant cognitive and social risks. Studies show that children’s excessive use of smartphones can reduce their attention span and limit their engagement in social and physical activities, resulting in developmental delays. Our organization promotes awareness among parents about these risks and the importance of setting healthy boundaries for digital use.
Children’s brains are highly sensitive and receptive, making them particularly vulnerable to both positive and negative influences. Excessive screen time and smartphone dependency can affect mental health, leading to challenges that may manifest later in life. Therefore, our organization is committed to providing mental health support, creating environments where children’s minds can flourish safely.
For disadvantaged children, access to basic education remains a significant issue. Many children in society face challenges in accessing essential services like education, healthcare, and safe living conditions. Our organization works to ensure these children receive the resources they need for healthy development.
Overall, Children Observer is dedicated to the welfare of children and creating a society that actively safeguards their growth and well-being.
Climate change and environmental pollution are additional factors impacting children’s well-being. The mental and physical health of children can suffer from pollution and environmental hazards. We are dedicated to raising awareness within communities about the impact of pollution on child health, encouraging social responsibility toward environmental preservation.
Around 79% of children use mobile phones to access social media, often spending substantial time on non-educational activities. Excessive screen time detracts from productive pursuits and can lead to behavioral problems. Our programs emphasize guiding children toward purposeful use of technology and promoting time management skills. By providing access to a variety of creative resources and activities, we encourage safer digital practices and offer workshops for parents to support their children’s responsible use of technology.
Our vision also includes creating a supportive society for differently-abled children. We believe that communities should be proactive in welcoming children with disabilities, offering them every opportunity to grow and participate in society. Such inclusive efforts help in building a nurturing environment where children feel protected, supported, and able to thrive.
